Contaminated Sites The key is all in the organisational structure. Quite simply, a technical role is available for these reasons:
- 4 core groups, purposely specialising in their environmental niche, avoiding unnecessary crossovers.
- Planning, Ecology, Contaminated Sites and Environmental Management.
- Each group is around 8 staff.
- Two principles in each group. One is responsible for the company management and group strategy, and the other is responsible for technical leadership.
A day in the Technical Principal role would cover coordinating project teams, field work, mentoring/inducting junior staff, preparation and sign off of DSI, PSI, remediation and other reports, auditor liaison, legislative compliance monitoring, explaining technical measures to key clients and coordinating with principles from other groups when needed.
What it would not focus around is client development meetings, attending board meetings, strategic management, staff hiring and profit and loss management. Must have at least 8 years in a pure contaminated sites role, demonstarting commitment to the contaminated sites field.
