Located in Welshpool, the primary function of the manufacturing manager is to direct all manufacturing operations for the site, including utilisation of equipment, facilities and personnel to obtain maximum efficiency and meet performance objectives.
This is a varied and busy role with key accountabilities including planning and maintaining production schedules, measuring progress by established standards of performance, effective recognition of issues and problem solving in the areas of schedules, staff, quality and order of production line. Responsibilities include:
* Supervision of 3 supervisors and 17 extrusion operators * Development of a manufacturing plan to deliver business objectives * Purchasing of materials, maintaining an approved supplier register and meeting with suppliers * Stocktakes * Development and implementation of best practice tools and processes * Responsibility for the site's quality, safety and environmental management system to ensure compliance with relevant legislation * Familiarity and implementation of the organisational policies and procedures * Team practices - staffing, mentoring and coaching Along with extensive plant experience, the successful candidate will demonstrate a minimum of three years previous experience in a management role and a motivated, proactive approach with a natural leadership style. A high standard of verbal and written communication along with MS Office Suite literacy is expected, along with experience in extrusion and lean manufacturing processes. These skills and experience will be underpinned with a mechanical engineering degree or engineering based trade qualification.
