This position works as part of this Government Agency's self licensing conditions and is responsible for providing the strategic management of it's worker's with psychological compensation claims following workplace injury.
The key roles and responsibilities of this contract role will include:
- Managing a designated portfolio of worker's compensation cases to achieve a safe, early and durable return to work following workplace injury
- Providing complex case management advice and direction for Case Managers, review and oversight strategic management of cases within the overall team portfolio
- Arranging independent medical and other investigations to ensure informed liability decisions can be made
- Delivering timely payment of worker's compensation benefits and related costs
- Implementing appropriate injury management and return to work strategies in consultation with the injured worker, treating doctors, managers, rehabilitation providers and other specialists
- Fostering a supportive working relationship with key managers to encourage active identification of suitable duties, case reviews and pro-active communications
- Ensuring all strategic, compliance and estimating reviews are conducted on all active files in accordance with legislative requirements and internal policies and procedures
- Maintaining objective file notes and case management information that is compliant with self insurer licensing conditions while upholding privacy principles
- Resolving disputes that may arise from the injury management or return to work process
- Being a representative in teleconferences, injury management disputes, case conferences and arbitration as required
To be successful in this opportunity candidates must be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Psychology
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a claims management environment in a large organisation
- Sound knowledge of Workplace Injury Management and Workers Compensation Act 1998 and 1987
- Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels clearly both orally and in writing
- Demsonstrated capacity to share knowledge and work as an effective team member
- Proven capacity to undertake detailed work with a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness
- Knowledge of workplace rehabilitation and injury management process with a strong working knowledge of EEO and Occupational Health and Safety policies
