An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Technical Specialist to work within a large international IT organisation. You will be required to ensure the stability of Linux systems, including incident resolution, problem record and root cause investigation and change activity.
You will be responsible for: - Championing the technology stream, ensuring the integrity of the environment throughout the change process
- Delivering effective technology guidance and implementation for the Linux environment
- Maintaining high levels of availability for all related systems and applications
- Liaising with customers requesting change to ensure process is understood and followed
- Provide support to the Linux environment including out of hours support, rotated on a roster basis
- Implement changes onto the systems, often out of business hours
- Contribute to project work and support in a ‘business as usual’ environment
To be successful in this role, you will need to have: - Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting and maintaining Linux environments in a large enterprise organisation
- Strong skills with Redhat Linux Advanced Server 4.0, 5.0
- Strong Networking ability
- Experience with basic shell scripts
- Performance monitoring experience
- DiskSuite mirroring
- Jumpstart/Kick-start experience
Other desirable skills include: - Oracle Enterprise Linux Application Server 4.8/5.3+
- SUN Solaris 2.5.1, 2.6, 7, 8, 9, 10
- ITIL Incident, Problem and Change Management
- Knowledge of SRDF technologies
- Basic understanding of the Financial Markets
- Windows Engineering Skills
